Project Monitoring Visit to University of Moratuwa

The National Science Foundation (NSF) successfully conducted a project monitoring visit at the University of Moratuwa on 11 March 2026, aiming to assess the progress of ongoing NSF‑funded research projects.

The programme commenced at 9.00 a.m. with introductory remarks by Eng. Mahesh Dissanayake, Head of the Research Division of the NSF, who emphasized the NSF’s continued commitment for strengthening national research capacities and fostering innovations that address national development priorities.

During the session, Principal Investigators of the projects presented progress updates, challenges, and future plans. Each presentation was followed by a focused discussion involving NSF officers and research teams

Each presentation highlighted significant research progress, innovations, and practical applications relevant to national sectors such as transportation, renewable energy, infrastructure monitoring, environmental conservation, and materials science.

Following the presentations, the NSF team visited selected laboratories and research sites within the university to gain direct insight into the investigative work, equipment utilization, and research environments supporting the projects.
