CALL CRGThe National Science Foundation (NSF) supports R & D activities of Sri Lankan scientists across all fields of Science & Technology including social sciences, the outputs and outcomes of which will ultimately benefit the Sri Lankan society. Accordingly, the Competitive Research Grant scheme (CRG) is designed to facilitate and encourage research of high standard, strengthen the research base and promote R & D activities directed towards the socio-economic development of the country.

NSF is calling applications for competitive research grants that address issues related to the socio-economic development of Sri Lanka aligning with priority areas for research identified by the government, as well as UN Sustainable Development Goals.

The research priorities are categorized under the following areas;

  • Agriculture, fisheries, livestock and food security
  • Health and education
  • ICT, communication, engineering, energy, maritime, transportation, tourism and other industries
  • Environment, land, water, air and mineral resources
  • Human development, arts, history, culture and ancient heritage studies

Grants will be awarded considering the scientific merit of the proposal, its innovation potential, expected economic impact and social benefits. Early carrier researchers,researchers from underrepresented universities and social science researchers are encouraged to apply to ensure equality, diversity and inclusion (EDI). Research teams should be multi-disciplinary with appropriate inter-institutional collaborations, promoting working together in co-creation to address local and global challenges.

Deadline for the receipt of applications is 3:00 p.m. on 14th February 2025.

Downloads

Grants will be awarded to successful applicants subject to availability of funds. Incomplete applications and applications received after the given deadline will not be processed. Decision of the National Science Foundation will be final.
