An award given to Supervisors of full-time postgraduate research degrees (MPhils and PhDs)
Who is eligible?
Supervisors of students who completed their postgraduate degree during 2023, 2024 or 2025, who were impacted by COVID-19 pandemic. Full time research degrees carried out in all fields of Science and Technology including Social Sciences is considered for the awards.
Eligibility Criteria:
✓ Should be citizens of Sri Lanka and working/residing in Sri Lanka.
✓ Should complete PhD/MPhil during 2023, 2024 or 2025.
✓ PhD should have been awarded within 5 years with effect from the date of registration. *
✓ MPhil should have been awarded within 4 years with effect from the date of registration. *
✓ One full research paper published in an indexed journal (SCI Expanded or SSCI) and/or a patent based on the research in respective time period.
✓ Those who were affected by COVID-19 Pandemic which delayed their PhD/MPhil activities.
✓ Those who were eligible for the 2023, 2024 and 2025 SUSRED Award calls advertised previously are not eligible to apply under this special call.
* One year grace period is given considering the Covid-19 impact
How to apply:
- The application should be submitted by the Principal Supervisor.
- All local supervisors of the student should sign the application (original signatures).
- For each postgraduate degree supervised, a separate application should be submitted.
- Apply through https://gmis.nsf.gov.lk/
Deadline for submission of applications:
15th October 2026
Incomplete and late applications will not be processed.
Decision of the National Science Foundation will be final.
