The National Science Foundation (NSF) has entered into a landmark partnership with the Export Development Board (EDB) through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed to enhance export competitiveness, drive export expansion, and ultimately contribute to national GDP growth. This strategic collaboration introduces a Financial Assistance Scheme designed to empower export-oriented start-ups and small and medium enterprises (SMEs) by facilitating access to globally recognized certifications. By enabling ICT businesses to meet international standards, the program positions Sri Lanka as a credible player in the global technology market.

The MoU was signed on 16th December 2025 by Dr Sepalika Sudasinghe, Director General of the NSF and Mr Mangala Wijesinghe, Chairman & Chief Executive Officer of the EDB, marking a significant step toward fostering innovation and economic development through technology-driven exports.

This partnership underscores the government’s commitment to creating a conducive environment for ICT entrepreneurs, ensuring that Sri Lanka’s digital economy continues to thrive on the global stage.
