Disaster Management Centre commemorated the International Day for Disaster Risk Reduction in a fitting manner

The DMC conducted a  national event on the 13th October 2021 at the BMICH to commemorate the International Day for Disaster Risk Reduction. Major General Sudantha Ranasinghe, Director General of the DMC was instrumental in organizing the event which was attended by several distinguished officials and scientists, including General G.D.H. Kamal Gunaratne, Secretary, Ministry of Defence, Prof. Shanthi Mendis, former Senior Advisor to WHO, Geneva, Prof. Dilanthi Amaratunga, Professor of Disaster Risk Reduction and Management, University of Huddersfield, UK and Dr. Ananda Malawathantri, Country Representative of IUCN.
 
Prof. Ranjith Senaratne, Chairman, National Science Foundation, was among the key speakers of the event which was attended by over 500 scientists and officials from home and abroad.
