Financial assistance for global certification
The Sri Lanka Export Development Board (EDB) had introduced a financial assistance scheme to enable SMEs and tech startups in the ICT sector for obtain global certifications, facilitating their entry into international markets. This scheme is implemented in collaboration with the National Science Foundation (NSF).
Priority certifications that will be considered for providing the financial assistance are as follows;
- ISO 9001: Quality Management Systems (QMS)
- ISO/IEC 27001: Information Security Management System (ISMS)
- SOC 2 (System and Organization Controls 2)
- GDPR Compliance
- ISO 20000: IT Service Management
- PCI-DSS (Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard)
Applications seeking financial assistance to acquire any certification other than the ones listed above should accompany a strong justification outlining the reasons for seeking such a certification, along with a clear explanation of the expected benefits and outcomes in return.
Assistance Categories
- SME Category - Companies having an annual turnover from Rs. 20 Mn to - Rs. 1 Bn.
- Start-up Category - Startups incorporated within last 5 years and not less than 6 months, as of 06.2025.
Financial assistance will be up to a maximum of Rs. 1 Mn. per company to obtain global certification.
Eligibility Criteria
- 100% locally owned and registered Company in Sri Lanka.
- Only one company is eligible in a Group of Companies

The Application form/EOI together with the Scheme Guidelines can be downloaded from the EDB website https://www.srilankabusiness.com under “Announcements” & "Downloads" section given below.
Duly completed Applications/EOIs along with all required proof documents as specified in the Scheme Guidelines, must be submitted in accordance with the instructions provided on or before 4.00 p.m. 11th August 2025.
Incomplete or late Applications/EOIs will not be processed. The financial assistance will be provided in accordance with the NSF Selection Process.
