NSF launches the WEST Programme in commemorating the International Women’s Day 2024

Monday 18th March marks a momentous day for NSF as NSF launched its ‘Women in Engineering, Science and Technoloy’ (WEST) programme, under the patronage of the Hon. Minister of Education, Dr Susil Premajayantha together with the secretary to the Ministry of Education at the Sirimavo Bandaranaike Vidyalaya. Director General Dr Sepalika Sudasinghe, along with esteemed officials from NSF, Senior officials of the Ministry of Education, officials from Sri Lanka Inventors Commission (SLIC) and Chairperson and representatives from Sri Lanka National Chapter for Women in Science for the Developing World (SLNC-OWSD) and invitees graced the event.

Prof. Sivalingam Sivananthan, an eminent overseas Sri Lankan scientist and entrepreneur based in USA and Dr Melki Perera, Medical Aesthetic Consultant (Dermatology) and Doctor of Aesthetic delivered motivational speeches.

Exceeding 1400 students from 14 schools, namely; Girls’ High School, Kandy, Hindu College, Jaffna, J/Chavakachcheri Ladies College, Maliyadewa Boys’School, Kurunegala, Maliyadewa Girls’ School, Kurunegala, Muslim Ladies’ College, Colombo, Rahula Vidyalaya, Matara, Richmond College, Galle, Royal College, Colombo, Sanghamitta College, Galle, Sirimavo Bandaranaike Vidyalaya, Colombo, St Andrew's Girls College, Nawalapitiya, Visakha Vidyalaya, Colombo and Wembady Girls’ School, Jaffna participated the event online.
